8 CHANNEL NIGHT – MARK VERNON + KATE CARR + TOM WHITE
Cafe Oto
3 March 2020 | 7.30pm
Cafe Oto are hosting a very special night showcasing three exceptional sound artists playing through a bespoke 8-channel / 8-speaker set-up, with Kate Carr, Tom White and Mark Vernon, who will be performing Paper Gestures.
Paper Gestures is an 8-channel sound work created at EMS, Stockholm in 2019. The piece is based upon field recordings made across Norway over a 13-year period including sounds of military exercises with tank fire, a road surface stripping machine, breaking panes of glass, high speed trains, ultrasound recordings of stomach noises, wind whistling through vents on the Oslo underground, sliding wardrobe doors, microwaved popcorn, soap suds, bee hives, hand bells and bicycle races. A stereo version of the piece is set for release on Jason Lescalleet's Glistening Examples label later this year.
