Part of the Landscape : Islands project at Phoenix Brighton, 'In A Shetland Landscape' is a collaborative exhibition of sound and ceramics by Brighton artists Joseph Young and Kay Aplin. The piece was conceived during a month-long residency in the Shetland Isles where the artists walked the landscape and mapped what they saw and heard. The result is an immersive four channel sound installation, accompanied by ceramic panels depicting Shetland micro-flora magnified to 'larger-than-life' size. The exhibition takes place in a new micro-gallery dedicated to sound art and ceramic practice - IN CAMERA at the award-winning The Ceramic House.
The evening features intimate performances by internationally renowned sound artists Cathy Lane (The Hebrides Suite) and Felicity Ford (AKA Knitsonik) whose work responds intimately to the landscape around them through sound. These performances are presented in partnership with the Aural Detritus Concert Series.
