Subversion in Sound Arts | Webinar with Cathy Lane

3 Nov | 12:15 – 2pm UTC / GMT

A Sound studies lecture series at Sound Environment Centre at Lund University
OnlineĀ (webinar)

“In this talk I will focus on how contemporary artists are re-cycling existing works, including songs and scores, and reframing them with a feminist or de-colonial perspective.” – Cathy Lane, composer, sound artist and academic. Her work uses spoken word, field recordings and archive material to explore aspects of our listening relationship with each other and the multiverse. She is currently focused on how sound relates to the past, our histories, environment and our collective and individual memories from a feminist perspective. Her latest publication, Sound Arts Now, with Angus Carlyle, was published by Uniformbooks in March 2021. Cathy is Professor of Sound Arts and University of the Arts London and Director of Creative Research in Sound Arts Practice, UAL.
