This research residency commissioned by the Emerge Research Group at Bournemouth University culminated with an installation using a 35 year old Atari ST1040 computer with only 1MB of RAM and no hard disk. Each pixel of the drawings John made in situ on the Atari were used to trigger a set of sounds which were also either recorded or synthetically generated on site. This work extends John’s investigations into how very high and very low frequency sounds can be used to explore architectural spaces and draw attention to their pre-existing ambient soundscapes.
