Listening Across Disciplines: Perspectives on listening with Human Geographer Dr. Jonathan Prior

Read research project Listening Across Disciplines’ interview with Dr. Jonathan Prior about how and why he listens in his work.

“How would I begin to describe the qualities of the sound of thousands of worker wood ants moving across a woodland floor?”

Dr. Jonathan Prior is a Lecturer in Human Geography in the School of Geography and Planning at Cardiff University.

Listening across Disciplines is a network project that brings together artists, musicians, scientists, technologists and social scientists as well as scholars and practitioners from the humanities, to work across disciplinary boundaries on the recently emerging focus on sound and listening. Led by Dr. Salomé Voegelin (PI), Reader in Sound Arts at the London College of Communication, UAL, and Co-I Dr. Anna Barney, Professor in Biomedical Acoustic Engineering at Southampton University. Funded by AHRC.
